The Partnership started just over four years ago. Its main purpose is to regenerate the communities of Gelligaer & Pen-y-bryn. The Partnership is made up of a range
of people including local residents. It alo works with a range of agencies to achieve its aims such as CCBC, Gelligaer Community Council, Gwent Police, GAVO, Local Health Board, Ystrad Mynach and Rhymney Colleges and many more. The Partnership is a non political organisation.
The Partnership works to help small voluntary groups and organisations within the community. Gelligaer & Pen-y-Bryn is awarded £10,000 Communities First Trust Fund each year from the Welsh Assembly Government. Groups can bid into this for
a maximum of £5,000 for a variety of things, many have already received funds in
this way, here are just a few -
Gelligaer Community Center, Pen-y-Bryn Village Hall, The Bowls Club Gelligaer Allotment, Gelligaer & Pen-y-Bryn Youth Clubs, The over 40sClub, Waun Rhyd Com-plex, The Boxing Club Gelligaer.
The Partnership also get involved with local projects large and small for example the developments at Gelligaer Square, the Woodland (Cydcoed) project at the Pen
y brynyturning bay at the rear of St Catwgs Avenue, Church Hall and many more.

The Partnership office has been opened over two years its located behind the Chemist at Gelligaer, many members of the community have come through the doors looking for help or advice on things such as anti social behaviour, housing issues. What ever they need help on partnership members put them in touch with the right people who can help. We also have agencies who use the office on a regular basis such as Credit Union, Police Surgeries with our ward officer PC Rhys Potter, Broker Cymru, Working Links and many more. So if you need help or advice why not call in, you may be surprised at what help is available.
